Six Fairview High School students were part of a group of only 50 students selected by the City of Cleveland’s Department of Sustainability to be part of this year’s Youth Sustainability Leadership Program (YSLP) and were invited to attend the Sustainable Cleveland (SC2019) Summit on September 28 in downtown Cleveland. Their participation was made possible through generous funding from The Cleveland Foundation and RTA.
The students are:
Colleen Sliwinski, Science teacher at FHS said, “This was an amazing and valuable experience for our students to collaborate with peers and professionals from Northeast Ohio.” Students (along with other members of the newly formed FHS Green team) will continue to collaborate with students from Lincoln West, Glenville, St. Joseph Academy, St. Ignatius, Hathaway Brown, and others, throughout the school year to complete community-based projects and present to their peers at the Earth Day Coalition Student Environmental Leadership Conference (SELC) in the spring.
