Jordan McHugh will begin duties as the Associate Principal of Lewis F. Mayer Middle School on August 1. The Board of Education approved a two-year contract for Mr. McHugh at the June 6 special board meeting.
Mr. McHugh holds a Masters in Educational Administration from Cleveland State University, a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education: Biology with Balanced Science, and a Bachelor of Science with Honours: Sport and Exercise Science from Aberystwyth University in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Mr. McHugh has most recently been the Assistant Principal at Robinson G. Jones in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD).
Previously he was an Action Team Coach at CMSD where he managed targeted curriculum development projects on behalf of the Deputy Chiefs and Academic Superintendents, such as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), instructional core and family engagement events and mentored and served as thought-partner for building administrators by providing model lessons, professional development, coaching and ongoing professional assistance.
He also served as a Talent Management Partner for CMSD where he conducted learning walks with a Network Support Team to provide feedback on areas of strength and development within schools. Prior to that, he was a program coordinator for Junior Achievement of Cleveland.
Prior to emigrating to the U.S., Mr. McHugh was a Science Teacher for four years at North Chadderton High School in Oldham, England.
Mr. McHugh originally hails from Manchester, England, and currently resides in Westlake with his wife and three children.
“Mr. McHugh brings a tremendous amount of experience to our district and his passion for educational technology in the classroom is very evident. We are excited to welcome him to the Fairview Park City School District,” said Dr. Bill Wagner, Superintendent.
Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, Chris Vicha — who has been Principal of Fairview High School since 2015 — will serve as Principal of both Lewis F. Mayer Middle School and Fairview High School, overseeing grades 6-12 along with Associate Principals Mr. McHugh (6-8) and Mr. Honeck (9-12).
“Mr. Vicha’s strong vision and leadership over the past several years has proven successful and will continue to help strengthen the academic rigor at the middle and high school levels,” said Superintendent Bill Wagner.
