One-to-One Computer Initiative
In the fall of 2010, the Fairview High School freshman class was the first class to receive a laptop computer from the school district. During the same school year, the board approved to purchase more computers for fifth and sixth graders at Gilles-Sweet Elementary. Starting the 2012-13 school year, every fifth- through twelfth-grade student will have access to a laptop computer. Students in fifth through eighth grade will use their computers to complete assignments, create projects or take tests throughout the school day, but leave them at school at the end of the day. High school students will use their computer in the classroom and at home for their studies. Upon graduation, students will be able to purchase their computer for $1.
