Erin Hinkel and her husband, John, have been residents of Fairview Park since 2000. They have been married for 24 years and have two children: Connor and Katie. Connor is a 2023 graduate of Fairview High School, and Katie is an eighth grader at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School.

Mrs. Hinkel is a 1993 Graduate of North Olmsted High School and a 1998 Graduate from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts. She worked as a graphic designer and project manager for ten years until she stayed home with her son after he was diagnosed with Autism. Over the years Mrs. Hinkel has helped facilitate workshops for families with the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Transition Boosters group. In 2015, she also founded a local support group for families in Fairview Park called Fairview Park Parents of Special Education.

Mrs. Hinkel also works full time for the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities as an Information Specialist and Trainer. Mrs. Hinkel was appointed Board Vice President in January 2021.
