Author Cinda Williams Chima conducts workshop at LFM

This February, the English Language Arts (ELA) program at Lewis F. Mayer Middle School hosted a literary IMG_0428“Fantasy Week.” As part of Fantasy Week, students from all grade levels dressed the halls in fantasy-themed creations, participated in a fencing demonstration and were visited by young adult author Cinda Williams Chima. Chima met with students during a series of presentations. During a comprehensive student writing workshop, Chima discussed the concept of character development and reader engagement. Students took part in writing exercises that highlighted the creative writing process.

Chima was a recipient of the 2008 Lit Award for Fiction from the Cleveland Lit and was named a Cleveland Magazine Interesting Person 2009.
