Connecting for Kids supports Northeast Ohio families by providing resources, programs and opportunities to connect with other families and professionals. Families can participate in free educational programs, support groups, inclusive activities and other events designed to help children and families learn, grow and thrive.

The Hustle Harder Co-Ed Speed, Agility & 1v1 Football Showcase will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2-4 p.m. at Lutheran West High School. Open to girls and boys ages 8 through high school, the event features speed and agility competitions and 1v1 football drills. Registration is $10 in advance with a canned food donation or $15 the day of the event.

Youth interested in learning Irish music can participate in Beginner Irish Music Classes offered by the Northeast Ohio Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. Classes include Beginner Fiddle at 4 p.m., Level 1 Mixed Instruments at 5 p.m. and Level 2 Mixed Instruments at 6 p.m.

Registration is open for Fairview Park Recreation Youth Basketball. Students in grades 3-8 can register through Oct. 26, while registration for first- and second-grade players continues through Nov. 23.

Students in grades 4-6 are invited to explore future career possibilities during the Polaris Career Center Explorer Club, an after-school program featuring hands-on activities led by Polaris instructors.
The fall Explorer Club will be held Oct. 21-22 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Polaris Career Center in Middleburg Heights. The cost is $35, which includes instruction and all class materials.

Cuyahoga County Public Library is honored to welcome Eva Clarke, Hana Berger Moran and Mark Olsky, who were among the youngest Holocaust survivors. They were born in April 1945 to Jewish mothers who hid their pregnancies in Nazi camps and gave birth just before Germany’s surrender.

The Fairview Park Recreation Department is offering several lifeguard training sessions this fall for those interested in becoming a lifeguard. Classes provide participants with the training needed to prepare for lifeguarding opportunities.

Fairview Park Recreation is offering Future Fashion Stars, a Saturday enrichment class for students in grades K-5. Participants will explore the creative process behind fashion design through activities including vision boards, drawing, designing on mini mannequins, upcycling and sewing.
