The Fairview Park City Schools Kindergarten Program is a no cost, full-day program. Students entering Kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year must be 5 years-old by August 1, 2019.

**Please note that for the 2019-20 school year, the Kindergarten program will be located at Gilles-Sweet Elementary School (4320 W. 220th St.) for the full school year. This is due to renovations taking place at Parkview Early Education Center as part of the district facilities project. More information will be available at upcoming parent meetings.

Kindergarten Registration Requirements


  • If your child will be 5 years-old by August 1, 2019: read the following information and scroll down to the button to begin online registration. Print any required forms to bring with you on March 14.
  • Come to Parkview Early Education Center (21620 Mastick Rd., Fairview Park) on March 14 between 9 a.m. and noon or 4-7 p.m. with the documentation noted below:

    Documents Required for Registration Appointment:

    Proof of Birth:

    • Original or Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Passport
    • Baptismal Record

    Parent/Guardian Identification (one of the following):

    • Driver’s License
    • State ID
    • Work Photo ID
    • Passport

    Proof of Residency:
    A, B and C must be brought in to your appointment

    A. One (1) of the following with your name and address:
    • Current signed lease (rent receipts are not acceptable)
    • Proof of home ownership (settlement statement or mortgage bill)
    B. Two (2) of the following with your name and address:
    All mail must be dated within 30 days of the registration appointment.
    • Utility bill
    • Bank statement
    • Insurance bill
    • Other business mail (no junk mail)

    C. Parental Residency & Custody Affidavit *Mandatory and MUST BE NOTARIZED*

    • Please note, if  you do not have a Mortgage or Lease in your name to your current residential address and are residing with a Friend or Family member who is the homeowner, the homeowner must fill out the Owner’s Affidavit and have it notarized. 
    • Renters: The homeowner/landlord must write a letter stating that you and your child are living with the renter on the lease, or you and your child’s name must be added as occupants to the lease.

    Immunization and Health Records 

    • Copy of your child’s immunization records from their doctor

    Custody Papers – Finalized with court stamp (if applicable):

    • Divorce Decree
    • Guardianship or Custody
    • Grandparent Power of Attorney
    • Journal Entry – Case Worker (must have district of responsibility listed in the document)

Important 2019 Kindergarten Dates

March 1: Pre-Registration Opens Online at www.fairviewparkschools.org 

March 14: Kindergarten Registration Event – 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. in the Parkview Early Education Center (21620 Mastick Road) gym. Please remember to bring all important documents. 

April 30: Kindergarten and 1st Grade Info Night – 6:30 p.m. – Gilles-Sweet Cafetorium (parents only)

August 29: Kindergarten Parent Meeting (Parents Only) 6:30 pm., Gilles-Sweet Cafetorium

September 5 and 6: Kindergarten Screenings by Appointment (Appointment time will be assigned in teacher letters sent home in August).

September 5: Kindergarten Meet the Teacher/Popsicles on the Playground, Gilles-Sweet Elementary, 6:30 p.m.

September 9: Kindergarten First Day of School

At what age can my child attend Kindergarten at FPCS?

Your child must be five years old by August 1, 2019. 


What is the fee for Kindergarten at FPCS?
There is no fee to attend Kindergarten at Fairview Park City Schools (except supply fees) for Fairview Park residents.


How do I enroll my child into Kindergarten?
Step 1: On March 1, 2019: Go to www.fairviewparkschools.org and click on the New Student Registration link. Fill out the registration in its entirety. Step 2: Attend Kindergarten Registration on March 14, 2019 with all required documents.


How will I know when my child’s bus will pick them up?
You will receive school transportation information approximately one week before the start of school. You will learn more about transportation at the parent meeting.


What supplies will my child need to bring?
Supply lists will be posted at www.fairviewparkschools.org prior to the start of school.


What is the cost of lunch? How do I set up a lunch account?
For the 2018-19 school year, school lunch is $2.60. At the time of registration, you will also have the opportunity to fill out a free/reduced lunch application. Prior to the start of school, you will also receive information on how to add funds to your child’s lunch account.


When can I meet my child’s teacher?
Families are invited on September 5, 2019 for a meet and greet and “Popsicles on the Playground” on and meet their new teacher. Students may also drop off their school supplies on this day. 


What are the before and after school care options?
The EEC program offers a limited number of before/after school spots. Please contact the office for more information.


Why is Kindergarten temporarily relocating to Gilles-Sweet Elementary for the 2019-20 School Year?
Kindergarten is typically housed at the Parkview Early Education Center on Mastick Rd. Because the building is undergoing extensive renovations during the summer and fall of 2019, it’s necessary to relocate the kindergarten program.

Kindergarten students will attend Gilles-Sweet Elementary for the entire 2019-20 school year (there will not be a move back to Parkview once renovations are complete). Updated 3/13/19

What will class sizes be for Kindergarten students?
Class sizes will be balanced based on if it is a self-contained or co-taught classroom. More information about this will be available at upcoming parent meetings. 


What sort of classroom settings can Gilles-Sweet students and teachers expect?
Kindergarten classrooms will be located in the primary grade classrooms at Gilles-Sweet, along with rooms that are currently used for music classes. Music classes will be in the student’s regular classroom. All student services will remain the same. All students will still have specials (i.e. physical education, art, music, library, etc.) as regularly scheduled.


How long will Kindergarten students have for lunch and recess?
Students will have 25 minutes for lunch and 25 minutes for recess, the same as 1st through 5th grade students.



How will bus transportation, pick-up/drop-off be handled?
Please click here for Gilles-Sweet’s Arrival and Dismissal procedures and map. Kindergarten students will enter through the 1st grade doors.


Will there be an informational meeting for parents? Yes. Parents of incoming Kindergarten students should plan to attend Kindergarten/First Grade Info Night on April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Gilles-Sweet. Then, parents should plan to attend the Kindergarten Parent Meeting on August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Gilles-Sweet. Both meetings are for parents only.

Is all-day kindergarten required in Ohio?
No. Children must attend only half-day kindergarten (2.5 hours per day).
Some school districts do offer all-day kindergarten, but if a family requests only half-day kindergarten for a child, the district must accommodate the family’s request.
