Fairview Park Board of Education Approves Keith Ahearn as Superintendent
Keith Ahearn will begin the 2021-2022 school year as the new Superintendent for the Fairview Park City School District.
At the April 20, 2021 regular board meeting, the Board approved a 3-year contract to begin August 1, 2021.
Mr. Ahearn is currently the Assistant Superintendent for North Ridgeville City Schools, a position he has held since 2018. Previously, Mr. Ahearn was the Principal at Lakewood High School from 2013-2018 and at Principal of Harding Middle School in Lakewood from 2009-2013. He was also Principal at Garfield Heights Middle School from 2007-2009 and Assistant Principal there from 2004-2007. He began his teaching career in Norwalk, Connecticut for four years before moving to Garfield Heights High School as a social studies teacher.
Mr. Ahearn holds a Masters in Educational Administration from John Carroll University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Fairfield University in Connecticut. He holds a Superintendent licensure from Ashland University, Principal Licensure from Cleveland State University, and participated in the Harvard Institute for School Leadership.
The Board of Education hired consultants from Finding Leaders to lead the search for a new Superintendent in December 2020 after Superintendent Dr. Bill Wagner announced his retirement to the Board and staff in November. The process included community stakeholder focus groups in January, several rounds of interviews with the Board in March, and a final round of interviews with the Board, stakeholders and school administration on April 16.
Joslyn Dalton, Board of Education President, said, “We are very excited about Keith Ahearn joining the Fairview family. He brings with him the experience and skills that will help continue the great progress made in the district over the past several years and will be a great addition to the Fairview community.”
“I am excited to join Fairview Park City Schools as the next Superintendent,” said Ahearn. “I am honored to have been chosen to lead such a proud and innovative school community. I am anxious to get started and look forward to collaborating with the Board and other stakeholders to continue their good work.”
The Board will host a community meet-and-greet with Mr. Ahearn as well as Rob Showalter, the school district’s new Treasurer, on Tuesday, May 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria courtyard at Fairview High School.
