Winter Running Program for 4th-6th Graders

We will be offering a new winter running program for Gilles-Sweet and Middle school students in grades 4-6 this February/March. The running club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. starting on February 7 at the Gilles Sweet cafeteria. Mrs. Dahler (high school cross country/track coach), Mr. Graff (middle school cross country/track coach), and Mr. Slack (high school staff) will be running the Tuesday and Thursday practices, with Saturday runs on your own.  Students will follow a 5-week training program, which will incorporate distance running, proper mechanics, techniques, strength training, and stretching. It is designed to help younger athletes see the benefits and excitement of running.  Students will be running inside and outside (weather permitting) in groups and working towards the goal of competing the St. Malachi two-mile road race on Saturday, March 11. Please see the important links below. Forms are due by the first day of practice.

** Please note: Transportation for middle school students will not be provided to Gilles-Sweet for practices.
